The USGA continually tests golf equipment for conformity to the Rules. Without such rigorous equipment testing and research programs, advances in technology could soon overtake skill as the major factor in success. Appendix II of the Rules of Golf outlines the specifics of what does or does not make a club or ball conforming or non-conforming. The links below can be used to look up a specific club and/or ball or to print the complete list.
If there may be doubt or concern over the conformity of equipment, all final decisions will come from the United States Golf Association.
