Beginning in 2025, the WSGA is launching a State Junior Team (Team Wisconsin) that will expand the pipeline for elite local golfers into the recently created U.S. National Development Program (USNDP), a new initiative launched by the United States Golf Association (USGA).

State Junior Team Program

The State Junior Team program is part of the USGA’s U.S. National Development Program (USNDP).  The goal of the program is to expand, strengthen, and diversify the junior golf pipeline by creating critical development, competitive and talent identification opportunities within each state for elite athletes ages 13-18 through close collaboration between the USGA, its Allied Golf Associations (AGAs), the PGA of America sections and relevant state junior programs in each state.

Who will be on Team Wisconsin?

The Team Wisconsin Committee will name a maximum of 8 boys and 8 girls to the 2026 Team Wisconsin in Fall of 2025. Athletes earn their way onto the team through outstanding competitive performance during the 2025 season. For the 2026 Team, players must be 13 years old by January 1, 2026, and must not be enrolled in college for the 2025-2026 school year. Only players who are Wisconsin residents are eligible.

Who is on the Team Wisconsin Committee?

The Team Wisconsin Committee is comprised on representatives from the Wisconsin State Golf Association and Wisconsin PGA.

What benefits does the team receive?

Benefits are still being finalized, but may include:

  • Access to USNDP Statistical Platform
  • Access to additional USGA online Athlete Development Resources (e.g. nutrition, sports psychology, fitness, recruiting support, course management tools)
  • Consideration for USNDP Exemptions into AJGA non-invitational tournaments (if needed)
  • Streamlined USNDP grant application process for families demonstrating financial need
  • Acknowledgement on USNDP digital channels
  • Inclusion in USNDP Database/Watchlist for potential opportunities
  • Exclusive Team WI events and seminars
  • Swag and gear discounts

Will the program comply with WIAA guidelines?

Yes, the program will comply with WIAA guidelines. Certain aspects of the program or benefits may be modified if necessary. As details of the program are finalized, the committee will work with the WIAA to ensure compliance. It will be recommended that players and their parents consult with their school Athletics Director as well.
